About Daylight Saving Time
What is DST?
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of advancing clocks during warmer months so that darkness falls at a later clock time. The typical implementation is to set clocks forward by one hour in spring and back by one hour in autumn.
Purpose
Originally implemented to save energy by reducing the need for artificial lighting during evening hours. Modern studies show mixed results on energy savings, but many regions continue the practice.
Global Adoption
Approximately 70 countries observe DST, affecting over 1 billion people worldwide. However, most countries near the equator do not observe DST as seasonal variations are minimal.
Remember
"Spring forward, Fall back" - Set clocks forward in spring, backward in fall.
